High School Senior Scholarship Program
WIBN Pittsburgh will award Scholarships to High School wrestlers from Western Pennsylvania Schools. Each scholarship will be $1,000 and awarded to High School Seniors who have participated on the varsity wrestling team. Scholarships will be awarded to a College/University bound students and to Trade/Vocational bound students
.
1. Each school can nominate one wrestler for each of the two scholarships.
2. Candidates must be nominated by either the varsity head wrestling coach or athletic director of the school for which he or she wrestled. The Coach/AD nominates the student based upon the following:
• The student’s leadership ability and character
• The student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• The student must have wrestled for the school team for 3 years, including senior year subject to missing time for injury.
• The Coach/AD* must provide the student with a letter of recommendation certifying the above criteria and reason for nominating the student. This letter of recommendation is required to be submitted by the student as part of the below online application process.
* Coach/AD’s contact information must be included in the letter. Signature is preferred.
3. The student applicant must be prepared to submit/enter all the information below at the time that he or she applies for the scholarship. (Most compatible upload formats .doc, .pdf, .jpg, .png)
• The letter of recommendation from the student’s Coach or AD.
• An essay of at least 500 words, but not more than 1,000 words, of “How wrestling has positively impacted his or her life.” (to be uploaded).
• A description of his/her community service (typed in via the online application).
4. Students must do the following to apply for a scholarship:
• Obtain a copy or photo of your recommendation letter from your Coach/AD, as you will need to upload it to complete the application.
• Have a copy of your essay letter ready to upload as well. Once you have both documents go to the next step.

• Fill out all the required information and upload your recommendation letter and essay.
• By completing this application, you will also become a member of the WIBN Pittsburgh for free.
